Strange to relate, the social aspect wasn't an issue for me. We were part of a home education support network and I was in a choir and did ballet lessons. There were also lots of kids on my street. So I didn't suffer socially. Until we moved to another country and lived in the middle of nowhere. That's when I chose to go to school.
