Yes. I think so many of us take decisions as parents based our experiences and personalities rather than our children's. There is defininitely a space for homeschooling done well and schools aren't always the best choice for every child. But I rarely see homeschooling presented as anything other than wonderful and I think that's misleading for lots of reasons. Not least that it's really hard work - as you will know as a teacher. Taking on someone elses full time job and just assuming it will be OK is naive at best.
